Sharon Baker - Treasurer
Sharon enjoys working in her yard, reading, and genealogy. Sharon is excited about Altrusa's exciting projects. She and her husband Ron love to spend time with their children, family, and their Boxer Tinkerbell, and enjoy traveling.
Virginia Hardy - Co President
Virginia was a charter member of Altrusa Club at its formation in 1981. She operated an accounting and tax firm for 25 years. She remains active in Altrusa and the Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church. Virginia also loves spending time with her two grandsons and enjoys quilting.
Carol Haughton - Co President
Carol joined Altrusa to meet new friends and participate in activities and projects that support the community. She is also involved in the Univ. of Puget Sound Women's League Flea Market. Carol loves bicycling and gardening.
Rose Jaeger - Secretary
Rose has a background in teaching, followed by work for a non-profit and owning a garden center in Sequim. She and her husband have three daughters, three grandchildren, and dog Sadie. Rose enjoys reading, gardening, sewing, cooking and the outdoors.
After over 53 years in the educational feil, Esther became involved with many volunteer efforts and organizations, including Altrusa, the Gig Harbor Garden Tour, the NW Furniture Bank, Peninsula Youth Orchestra, and many others.
Governor - District 12
Rhonda joined Altrusa to help make a difference in the community. In her professional life she is a Retirement Income Planner and in her spare time she loves working on Altrusa community projects as well as her garden and boating on the Puget Sound.
Nancy Hohenstein - Emeritus
Nancy has lived in Gig Harbor for over
25 years, and is a marketing, publishing
and corporate management professional .
She and her husband Doug have been
married 53 years, and have three sons,
three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Pat Schmidt - 2nd Vice President
Pat has lived in Gig Harbor for over 30 years and she loves this community! She is married with 1 adult son, 2 golden retrievers, and a 22-year-old cat who rules them all. "It is an honor to be part of Altrusa — they are like family!"
I worked in the travel industry for 30 years and was lucky enough to be able to travel all over the world. I recently retired and moved to Gig Harbor to be close to family. I am excited to be a part of Altrusa and to meet such an outstanding group of women that work hard (while having fun) to make great things happen in our community.
Susan Locke - Director
Susan moved from Kailua, Hawaii after retiring from 42 years as a OB/GYN nurse at Queen's Medical Center. She plans to continue painting and swimming at the YMCA. She adores her 2 children, 3 grandchildren and dachshund Hunter..
Patricia is a retired attorney, whose career focused on international energy development projects. She moved to Gig Harbor in 2008 to be near her children. She and her children have been visiting the area since 1976, when her parents first settled here.
Jackie joined Altrusa in 1976 and has held many positions in Altrusa on the local, district and international levels. Jackie was a member of the South Pierce County Club and transferred to the Altrusa Gig Harbor. We feel so very lucky that Jackie is now with us!
Secretary - District 12
Dyane moved to Gig Harbor in 1987 and joined Altrusa in 1991. She wanted to join an organization that not only supports the community but to gain new friends. She like to cook, garden, travel, and spend time with her husband and children.
Marv Nauman is an award-winning professional photographer with an amazing breadth of experience, including 70,000 photographs published worldwide. He served as lead photographer for FEMA in the wake of Katrina, as guest photographer for the “Batman” and “MacArthur” movies, consultant for Boeing, Washington State and Pierce County Emergency Management agencies, and the official photographer for Altrusa Gig Harbor and District Twelve.
A retired educator from Las Vegas, Dr. Olve is enjoying her new life in Gig Harbor. Altrusa's emphasis on helping youth is a perfect venue for Jane's quest to join community efforts and continue making this a wonderful place for children to grow and prosper.
Nadine moved from Seattle to Gig Harbor in 2001. She began volunteering in grammar school as a Blue Bird and Camp Fire Girl. Nadine has a passion for animals and has been a volunteer at the Humane Society and Zoo. She is a huge advocate for education and donating to local causes and enjoys participating in local theater and concerts and plays the guitar, didgeridoo and hand drums.
Born at Dover Air Force Base, DE, and experienced multiple moves. We were in University Place, WA twice, once in grade school, and graduated from Curtis High School, then attended Seattle Pacific College. Spent the past 20+ years in the Pacific NW. I have three daughters: Sarah, who teaches English in France and married a Frenchman; Jennifer, mother of my two granddaughters in Philadelphia; and Hannah, still learning to fly the nest.
Prior to moving to Gig Harbor, DenIse lived in New York. She spent her professionall career as a fundraiser. Along with small regional charities, she worked long term for Covenant House, Public Broadcasting and the National Auduon Society. Now retired, Denise is spending a great deal of time in volunteer opportunities. She cares strongly about animal rescue and has a varietyof hobbies.
