In 2016, Altrusa’s Empty Bowls event provided 4,071 summer lunches and our 2017 goal is to provide even more lunches to needy children and families in the Peninsula School District

Raised $100,000 over a ten-year period to furnish the community commercial kitchen for the Boys & Girls Club

Provide an annual donation of $2,000 in scholarship funding for the Peninsula Youth Orchestra

Contributed thousands of dollars’ worth of school supplies and basic clothing to children in need in Peninsula schools

Initiated the original Peninsula Adult Education Program, providing literacy education services to adults with low literacy skills which included GED and ESL in 1989

Downtown beautification—Altrusa funded and placed cement benches at downtown Gig Harbor intersections for pedestrian seating
