Altrusa is an international organization dedicated to service, leadership, and community engagement, and we are proud to be the Gig Harbor chapter serving Gig Harbor, Washington. Our mission is to strengthen our local community through hands-on service, meaningful partnerships, and financial support for programs that make a lasting difference in the lives of families throughout our area.

We are best known for our annual Empty Bowls event, a cherished community tradition in Gig Harbor, Washington that raises critical funds for local organizations addressing food insecurity and helping ensure families have access to nourishing meals. This event brings together local artists, volunteers, and community members in a shared effort to support those in need.

Altrusa of Gig Harbor also helped bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program to Gig Harbor, Washington, and we continue to proudly support this important initiative. Through this program, children receive free, age-appropriate books delivered to their homes, helping foster early literacy and a lifelong love of reading.

Beyond these signature projects, our chapter actively supports other local non-profit organizations through collaborative service projects and volunteer efforts that respond to the evolving needs of our community. Just as important as the work we do is the way we do it. Our members value friendship, connection, and fun, building strong relationships as we work together in service. By combining compassion, collaboration, and a shared commitment to Gig Harbor, Washington, Altrusa members create meaningful and lasting impact in the community we are proud to call home.
