9. Malama Mele Hanái by Susan Locke
Malama Mele Hanái means to take care of with song, to feed and to foster in Hawaiian. My painted violin represents a thriving tree of life flowing up from its musical roots. I was inspired by the giving nature of my new Altrusa friends.
I am a new neighbor to Gig Harbor, after moving here from Hawaii, where I lived for 45 years. I studied Chinese brush painting at the Honolulu Academy of Arts and I also enjoys plain air oil painting.
